(Video below) Updated 2022

Pumpkin Spice FlavoringHere we discuss 2024’s most popular holiday coffee bean flavors as we approach the the production season.  Pumpkin Praline is our newest and most popular selling holiday flavor so far on a global level, as well as “Raptured” coming in for a close second place.  Raptured” has unique notes of rum-raisin, milk chocolate and nut.  Most popular coffee bean flavors as well as some interesting new

Since the 2022 holiday coffee  season we will first discuss the holiday coffee bean flavors that sold well.  If you do not already roast your own coffee at home you may want to consider doing so.  The typical line up is French Vanilla, Hazelnut, Caramel MacchiatoHighlander Grog, and Amaretto.  Some purveyors add a chocolate selection such as Chocolate Raspberry or Chocolate Mint to their lines.

2022 Top Coffee Bean Flavors for Holiday Season in order of popularity are anticipated to be Pumpkin Spice, Pumpkin Pie (Our Pumpkin Pie does have real cooked flesh notes of pumpkin,) Highlander Grog, Butter Pecan, Egg Nog Latte, Creme Brulee, Sugar Cookie, Gingerbread, Mocha Mint, Toffee Nut, Butter Rum, Bourbon Pecan Pie, White Chocolate.  Pecan is one of our best formulas and can mix with just about anything.  Because our flavors are dependable and on target….most customers buy from us and mix their own private formulas.  How Much Flavor Do I Need?  Customers use anywhere from a teaspoon (5ML per pound) to the high end of 15ML per pound.  Customers servicing grocery stores tend to feel comfortable with just a teaspoon of flavor per pound of coffee beans, basically 10ML.  Customers selling at Farmer’s Markets tend to flavor at the high end of the spectrum.  Yes you can flavor already ground beans!  It just takes more flavoring such as 1oz per pound and customers who do that tend to use a ribbon mixer.

Our newest flavor that has done well  in autumn of 2022 is  Raptured which is a blend of raisin, nut, and rum folder in milk chocolate.  Our senior flavorist created it and it is her favorite.  It tastes very much like a Cadbury product. Still rather new is our  Banana Caramel Crunch.  This has notes of Banana, Caramel and our Pecan.  Rain Forest Crunch is also another old favorite.  This has notes of Hazelnut, Caramel and Toasted Coconut.

For the blenders out there, here is a palette you can mix and match your own holiday flavors… Butter, Butterscotch, Coconut, Caramel, Cinnamon, Coffee, Egg Nog, Ginger, Graham, Grog, Hazelnut, Latte [Milk], Maple,  Pecan, Peppermint, Pumpkin Spice, Rum, Smores, Spice, Sugar Cookie, Vanilla and White Chocolate. “Cream” of anything usually means 20% vanilla was added to, say “Hazelnut” to make “Hazelnut Cream.”

Again, basic coffee flavors popular year round must include Amaretto, French Vanilla, Caramel Macchiato, Hazelnut, and Irish Cream.  Click here to buy our flavors.  Manufacturer is Flavor Laboratories.

How to Roast Coffee Beans at Home

Roasting coffee beans at home is easy and we recommend using a popcorn popper to roast your green coffee beans.  You can buy a popcorn popper almost anywhere but most people pick them up for just a few dollars used at a thrift store.  Certain types are better for roasting coffee beans at home so please watch the video to see the recommended hooded style of popcorn popper.

When using a popcorn popper to roast beans, understand that the beans remain sitting in the heating element the entire time-the popcorn popper just keeps the beans moving is all.  So, beans do not pop and fly down a shoot, just in case you were wondering.  “Chaff” however, will fly out like popcorn does and you want to capture the chaff to dispose of it.  For this reason some people roast their beans outside.  Half of the people roast their coffee beans outside and the other half roasts their coffee beans inside.  I roast mine on my lanai so you could say in between the two worlds. Chaff from roasting coffee beans can really get into the air and float around.  This is why some people roast coffee beans outside to avoid the whole issue.

How Many Coffee Beans Can You Roast at a Time?

Roasting coffee beans in a popcorn popper only allows you to do an ounce at a time or so.  If you do too much your beans will be burnt on the bottom not not roasted enough on the top.

Where can I get green coffee beans?  Wholefoods may have them, SweetMarias.com is the trusted internet source for green coffee beans and there you can have lots of fun trying beans from around the world.  Please see the video below for how to roast coffee beans in a popcorn popper!
